Monhegan Island, Maine

With a grand total of 126 species, this fall's annual trips to
Monhegan Island broke last year's record by one species. That ceremonial bird would be Yellow-throated Warbler. But this trip had all manner of oddities, which is typical on Monhegan, including a Lark Bunting Bryan discovered during scouting for the trips. Alas, it departed before birding groups arrived.
Warblers were a bit hard to find this year: 21 species (padded with Yellow-breasted Chat) is rather modest sum by Monhegan standards. But a Western Kingbird on a wire, a Sora walking at our feet, a White-eyed Vireo, two Dickcissels and Lark Sparrows do help out when warblers aren't around in abundance.
